Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Townhalls from he-l...

Does anyone remember the Townhall where the "special guest" was from Microsoft and it had zero relevance to what was happening with the Company? At that time, I could not for the life of me understand why or what the purpose of that townhall was, other than we were selling our soul to the MS devil...and that became more and more apparent. I was having flashbacks to this with the recent round of various townhalls, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors but no real answers to questions that the employees have, all scripted to avoid the hard discussions and to skirt accountability. Bring back pollEV and "my friend" that asked during one of the townhalls if "Free lunch Tuesday" would continue.

We have no other way to learn what is going on. Let us at least use this board to do so.

Is there ever any new info about layoffs on the Chevron part of the layoff.com or is it always just constant office gossip and chit chat that you hear every day any day? I'm beginning to think that Chevron employees don't have any other outlet or haven't been aware of social media for long.

Yes, I remember that townhall, and was equally appalled. Clear message was that MW had (still has) no idea how to innovate technology and had to call on a 3rd-party snake-oil salesman to tell Chevron how much better MS does things. Note that in the intervening time (was that 2017 or 2018?) all that "collaboration" with MS has resulted in ZERO technologic or software advancement in Chevron.

They picked the absolute worst leader to head up India. So why should we expect those town halls to be anything better? It is par for the course.

Having MS CEO talk at our townhall was just one symptom of the larger disease: A Sr. leadership that has no idea how to run this company. Other symptoms are rapidly switching between different management philosophies like a new MBA graduate, repeated systemic reorganizations with no goal beyond short-term cost reductions, and a lack of a clear articulated vision for future. In this time of rapid change and turbulent waters for the whole petroleum industry, having worst in class leadership is disheartening.

My favorite town hall was the "playing the victim card" that took down JG
