I had offers from several smaller banks, but I thought my job would be safer here. Now I'd laugh at my own naivete and stupidity if I didn't feel like crying.

Ok, so be an adult and make a decision.
I’ve worked for smaller banks and they do layoffs too. I’ve even experienced times at smaller banks where our group didn’t get any bonuses. While the Wells Fargo environment has become toxic, I’ve found the pay better and more reliable than my smaller bank experience.
Could be worse, you could have chosen to work at a bank where someone died in office and they weren’t found for 4 days. Oh wait..
