Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

LR and 60 days

I have read several posts regarding 60day period and need to know why Zi can not join another job before 60 days.

Assuming manager officially tells me you are LRed on 16th September. Does it mean legally I should not accept any other outside job within 60 days?
If yes, why?

The scenario I am facing is I have been unofficially given all indicators. So I am looking for a job and I have told my interviewers that i can join after 20th Oct(knowing I will officially LTed on 16th September).

You can start another job within the 60 day notice period. Make sure you open a case and provide the company and start date. You can do this for a competitor or a non competitor. Cisco should continue to pay you either way, but if you do it under the radar and get caught, it is a violation of your COBC and you could forfeit your severance. Make sure you get it approved before you start the new job.

No one will know you started a new job since you are not required to work during the 60 days before exit on anything for Cisco. Close your laptop and be done.

You are free to accept and start any new job after Sep. 16th if you are laid off. The are no legal issues with that and Cisco is not asking you to stay for another 2 months. They are giving you the opportunity to stay for another 2 months while you look for another job.

The only thing you need to consider are the terms of separation, which you are going to find out if you are laid off.

Congratulations if you have a new job! You can do it, but keep don’t flaunt it especially if you potentially violate non-compete
