Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Pay attention

I know everybody hates the idea of RTO but some of you need to be reminded that if you can work remotely, then your job can easily be offshored. I know this will be heavily downvoted, but it's the truth. I'd rather return to the office and still have a job than persist with WFH and see my job being shipped off to India or wherever else.

No, the many jobs I have held in the last 15 years I could have done from home. The only thing is that a major event caused business to admit that being in office 5 days a week was not the only option.

The classic work week was invented when the man went to work and a woman took care of the household. Now that the workplace has evolved it’s time to evolve what being at work means.

If you don’t understand that you might now have a family, or live to work or benefited from the classic system.

Outsourcing is another bandaid being placed over the vintage 1980s technology that is the technology backbone.

Upper management doesn't comprehend the concept of a functional bank or how to create one that allows for meaningful technological advancements...that is why the sole focus on outsourcing.

Voice auth, help desk, desktop support, deployment, MPs were all in office jobs they off shored. Why would you ship a terminal from Poland to the US when you had deployment in the US to begin with and that’s where your largest customer base is. It makes no sense.

Look off shoring to India is not new. Its also devastating to companies that do it. First you outsource and your cost of operations drastically drops, soon your costs go up along with dissatisfied customers and then you start to in source but by then you lost quality and a customer base.

On here many people say they are getting US Bank for a sale then you have lowered your operating expenses v your assets and you look like a great bu.

Poor leadership off shore because they have no idea how else to save money.

Bottom line it doesn't matter if you RTO or not this company has made so many bad choices and have failed so many audits…the execs need to either get the ship to shore or make it a great looking ship to sell.

We had layoffs before RTO so you’re delusional. They are just more frequent now. Your job is not safe regardless of what you tell yourself. No one is safe anymore.

In my opinion, with all of the advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), it's just a matter of time before every conceivable process is off shored, and this goes beyond USB.

Just as technology advances in agriculture in the 1920's reduced the demand for farm labor in the 1920's and contributed to widespread unemployment in the 1930's, my concern is that AI could have a similar effect as it is harnessed and adopted by industries at large.

Let's remember that GK grew up in India and got her undergraduate education in Delhi. In short, she has a native's familiarity with India. For someone with that background, the decision to relocate work from North America to India comes down to dollars and cents.

Back office jobs that are not customer facing roles? Those will be the first roles to go offshore.

They already know we can work remotely and will happily offshore our jobs if it suits them. Being a good little worker drone and going into the office won’t prevent that.

Your job is not safe id you RTO. Layoffs can happen to anyone, at any time, and any place. USB is willing to offshore jobs regardless of your status.
