Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Jeetu's comment

At this recent GSX, Jeetu made an interesting comment at one of the big stages in front of thousands of employees.

“If you are thinking about leaving Cisco, that’s the stupidest decision you’re going to make”, he said.

If you were at GSX, how did you react to it?

I think Jeetu was thoughtless and lacked leadership given that there is a pending LR in place. Many people are not choosing to leave, but unfortunately thousands of employees will get impacted. Who is making the stupidest decision in this scenario?, one would wonder.

"That ja----s just wrote some d-mb post on LinkedIn again. Is he re--rded?"

Yeah totally re--rded. Doesn't he know that the company has either a highly disjoint (webex and routers) or highly overlapping (catalyst, sdwan, meraki, etc) set of low quality assets accumulated over 20+ years of acquisitions - essentially a holding company. And he wants to make a platform out of this mess? This is some next level bullsh-t that he seems to have sold to the board. I don't see a growth strategy here.

He is a freaking conman. He keeps going off in meetings and social media how his father was a conman - he is the biggest conman i have seen. Look at all the announcements he has made on social media - just before product launches: Security Cloud, SSE, XDR, Hypershield, a million announcements on collab - has anyone gone back and verified if indeed these products are hitting their numbers? Anyone on the hypershield team care to share some light on how that is doing? Is it even a product? Competitors are ahead by 30 to 40% Q/Q - forget annually. Yet we are so mediocre now that we celebrate low single digit growth and say we are growing when relatively we are 70% down in the market.

But credit where due - he makes moves on the hype and news he creates. He plays the game well. Get onboard folks. He is the next CEO!

Patel caste hails from the Gujarat province of India. People from Gujarat do not speak in their own native dialect. They do not speak in Hindi like most other Indians. They do this purposely to exclude people in the workplace!!! It is a dirty secret few are sharing

They operate like mafia, only helping those who worship them!!! All they care about is money and power, no heart!! Beware of the Gujaratis!!!

@2ygx+1uhlW85P Good use of chatGPT.

J2 riding on the improvements that TG is making to Security.

Collab has stagnated. Still great hardware - ex-Tandberg and their apprentices still doing good work. Webex is still superior to MS Teams. But so many recent fails with quality, feature misses, etc.

Jeetu has done a good job overall, his areas of leadership are growing and I’m pretty sure he’ll be a much better CEO than Chucky Chuck .. 🤣

While Jeetu has demonstrated strong leadership and strategic capabilities at Cisco, there are notable limitations regarding his background in networking and security that can be articulated as follows:

Limited Direct Experience in Networking and Security -
Lack of Technical Background: Patel's previous roles primarily focused on product management and strategy in cloud content management and enterprise software rather than direct experience in networking and cybersecurity. His expertise lies more in SaaS and collaboration technologies, which may not fully translate to the complexities of networking and security, areas that require deep technical knowledge and experience.

Transition from Other Domains: Before joining Cisco, Patel was the Chief Product Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Box, where he concentrated on cloud solutions and content management. This background, while valuable, does not include hands-on experience in the core networking and security domains that are critical for leading these functions at Cisco.

Challenges in Leading a Diverse Portfolio -
Integration of Diverse Teams: Patel's recent appointment to lead the integration of networking, security, and collaboration teams presents challenges. While he has successfully managed product portfolios, the technical intricacies of networking and security may require a different skill set and understanding that he has not fully developed.

Need for Technical Expertise: The fields of networking and security are rapidly evolving, requiring leaders to possess not only strategic vision but also a robust understanding of technical details and emerging threats. Patel's focus on AI and collaboration may not adequately address the immediate technical challenges faced in cybersecurity.

Potential Gaps in Industry-Specific Knowledge -
Understanding of Cybersecurity Threats: Leading security initiatives requires a nuanced understanding of the current threat landscape, including knowledge of specific vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and defense mechanisms. Patel's experience has been more aligned with product development and market strategy, which may limit his effectiveness in navigating complex security challenges.

Dependence on Technical Teams: While Patel's leadership can drive innovation and strategic direction, the reliance on existing technical teams for deep expertise in networking and security may create gaps in decision-making and responsiveness to emerging security threats.

While Jeetu Patel brings some experience in product strategy and innovation, his limitations in direct networking and security experience may pose challenges in effectively leading these critical areas at Cisco.

This is yet another example of the Peter Principle. This principle states that "in a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to their level of incompetence". Cisco has for sometime embraced this principle significantly impacting the company's success in several ways, primarily through its effects on management effectiveness, employee morale, and overall productivity.

He is Mr. Buzzword and nothing else. A friend who worked closely with him in a previous job told me he is nothing but a loud mouth. Unfortunately noone here at the ELT or board seems to see it

There’s been more than one suit vs Cisco for creating an environment that propagates the caste system. The biggest lie is “oh, that ancient thing — it no longer exists…”. Utter BS… it is alive and well…

Remember when Maria was given the bulk of Cisco business to manage and she drove it into the ground? Chuck is doing the same thing to G2.

G2 will drive the Splunk acquisition along with everything else in to the ground, Chuck will let him do it and not course correct, then fire him.

Same thing only different. It’s Chucks strategy.

Funny, when CISCO decided to get rid of employee - it is business!! Make decision best for yourself and your family. If it is a WIN/WIN situation, it is great. Otherwise, your future and your family are far more important.

Someone just posted around here that Cisco was sued for patent infringement for audio conferencing technologies
