Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Calls from Wealth Management

A colleague and I received calls in recent days from Wealth Management companies, asking if we'd be interested in services to learn more about what we can do with 401k or ESPP funds. One went so far as to say, "since you are longer a Cisco employee, or contributing to its 401k."

This feels like it really can't be coincidental, but I also can't imagine how they would get this list. It is more likely they are just cold-calling Cisconians in advance of the layoff, right?

Tell them you're rich beyond belief and they go away.

Probably cold calls. Linkedin has been blowing up with recruiters contacting saying "I hope you weren't impacted, but if you were..."

Best not to read into it too much for one's mental health sake. 9 / 10 chance you'll still be around.

Could be a scam call. They can spoof their caller ID and they will know all kinds of your personal info. If you want/need to talk to them, ask what number and extension to call them back at and verify it is legit.

Its just people taking advantage of the situation, and fear mongering. I'm getting messages on linkedin from "job coaches" . Im sure they are blasting all Cisco employees.

No. It's just someone talking out of turn, that's it.
