One of Boston’s leading independent restaurant groups, The Briar Group, will lay off 136 Boston-based positions by Oct. 31, state filings show, although the company said employees affected can get a job elsewhere in the company.
The positions affected are across multiple locations: City Bar and City Table at 65 Exeter St., and Solas Irish Pub at 710 Boylston St. City Bar, City Table and Solas Irish Pub are nestled in Boston’s historic Lenox Hotel.
The Briar Group — which submitted a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing with the state on Thursday — told MassLive Tuesday night that despite the official filing, no one is actually losing their job.
