Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Why you shouldn't work for Cisco

Discussed with a group of talented people. Below is the gist from the group of talented people.

  1. Cisco got a proven track record of regular layoffs. Google/Meta and many other companies had layoffs, but not to the extent of what Cisco did over past two decades.
  1. The top management never considered engineers as a precious resource. Engineers growth is limited to what his manager thinks about him.
  1. Cisco, due it's toxic culture, let it's own employees create the competition for itself and ki-ling itself. It survided so far by reinveting itself by acquisitions.

So, you must never work for Cisco if you want a great career. Use and throw Cisco as Cisco always does with its employees.

The average tenure at Google is a little over one year. Thank you for playing.

Don't judge your experience at Cisco as everyone's experience. I've been here for 6+ years and I in that time I was surrounded by amazing coworkers and some pretty good leaders. There are 80K+ of us around the globe + thousands of red badges. I would bet most of us have had a fairly good experience at Cisco and feel well paid and consider our jobs a very good job.
