Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Login Items added mac

I got a notification that some new login items were added to my mac. I know code42 was always there but now I see thousandeyes listed there too.

Does everyone else have this, or does this mean what I think it means...

Cisco will not monitor your laptop, it’s not legal.

It literally says your PC is monitored right on the login screen. How stupid are people?

I have had all these for a while also, but here’s what I’ve noticed:

  • Code42-ATT updated September 8
  • New .exe running as of today 10th “te-guardian.exe” (that’s new on top of the already existing te-agent.exe)

Getting the pop-up that a managed login item has been added is nothing. It pops up all the time. IT had a bug that was pushing out Code42 daily instead of only if needed and the pop-up showed up daily. Ditto for updating Chrome or Edge browsers, that pop-up occurs.

I'd heard people talking about poor performance after getting the ThousandEyes agent or other monitoring software, but so far my system seems very stable and performant.

It does seem suspicious that Code42-AAT was updated on Aug 16th, but I've had Code42-AAT or a long time. The thousandeyes launch agent, however if very new. There's also a "te-agent" process that's now visible in the Activity Monitor.

Aug 16 /Applications/Code42-AAT.app/
Jul 3 /Applications/Code42.app/
Sep 5 /Library/LaunchAgents/com.thousandeyes.eyebrow.entr.useragent.plist

We shall see come Sept 16th if this new monitoring is because I'm on the list or if this is just the new normal.

Code42 Incydr is the best solution to help offboard employees with ease by delivering complete visibility and effective response controls to stop employee data theft.

Code42 backs up your disk drive to the network. You'll thank your lucky stars for Code42 if you ever have a massive hardware failure and need to copy your data backup to a new device.

I think Thousand Eyes is being integrated with Secure Client as part of remote access. Nothing to see here ...

People who got LRed in previous rounds said some sort of monitoring software was installed prior to notification.

They can/do monitor your activity and it’s 100% legal for them to do so.

stop with this monitoring nonsense. Both thousandeyes and code42 are there for security purposes and have nothing to do with monitoring what you do on your laptop. If you're LRed, its because of other factors. Cisco will not monitor your laptop, its not legal.

Also had something added to log-in items this morning. Guess we will find out if relevant in a few days.

Check HD > Library > LaunchAgents sort by “Date Modified”. You’ll see “com.thousandeyes.com.eyebrow.entr.useragent.plist” was added recently.

As far as I can tell it’s not to monitor data exfiltration. It’s for user experience monitoring.

I have 1,000 spies, but don't have ATT login item. Had code42 forever.

If you have code 42 att installed, that means Cisco is monitoring data exfiltration on your corporate laptop

Does anyone not have Code42-ATT?

ATT seems to be a different file added in August, and some people in another thread are trying to figure out if it has anything to do with layoffs.

Do you have the data file name for the thousand eyes program? I'd give it a check for you to see if I have it.
