Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

How long do the layoff calls last for?

Does it vary from team to team? Or is the process more consistent? Will we be notified via email?

Some are 1:1 and 6 minutes, others are mass video firings of entire groups and maybe a little longer. It’s nasty, clinical, inhumane and ugly.

It depends. I was at a remote site where they laid off a significant part of the building so they flew out HR from SJ for a 15 minute meeting in the largest conference room and then we were broken up by last name into smaller conference rooms to collect our packages. The choreography was meticulous.

We knew it was coming so most cleaned out early, but they did make boxes available to help pack their stuff if they hadn't done it already.

Post meeting we had building access until our last official day where everyone came in to drop off our laptops and chat. We also had network access for limited resources until that last day.

As others have said. It's a 15 min (max) call. Likely a private invite from either your manager or skip level manager.

The script is generic and they arent allowed to go 'off piste'. They will likely be unable to answer any questions.

Immediately after the call the host will hit send in Workday and you will instantly receive your settlement letter.

Good luck. Tho the market is tough right now, there is life after Cisco.

Yeah, 15min ish. In my case it was my manager's manager. My manager was not impacted, so not sure why he didn't host the call.

It'll be about 10-15 mins. Managers have a script from the HR which they MUST read. You'll get a generic invitation for a 1:1 and if you try to ask your manager for an agenda, they won't tell you what it's about and will tell you to wait until the meeting. If your manager is decent, they'll start another Webex meeting after the official one for the more empathetic call and offer help.

It won't be long as they don't want to be answering any of your questions .

My meeting lasted less than 5 mins and immediately after I’m talking seconds I got an email from the Workplace Transitions Team outlining next steps with the package.

15 min or less Charlie. Order a pizza and see which one gets there faster.

15 minutes. You'll get the invite from your boss or his/her boss depending on if your direct manager is hit. They'll read from a script. This is how it was performed when I was laid off, and it was consistent with my peers who were impacted last round and in previous rounds. There will be no agenda. You'll see a meeting invite titled "Bob and Sally 1:1" or something of the like (it will be vague)...it's not going to say "layoff call" LOL.
