They love "impacted" because that is something that randomly happens to you. You havent been impacted, they have laid you off.
They love LR because it sound like some kind of medicine, but really you have not been a victom of a "limted restructure" you have been laid off.

how about this company re-balances my rsu portfolio so i can do some personal restructuring of my own
tired of all these pc bs names, wish they would stop trying to sugar coat layoffs.
if this company wasn't constantly losing business to competition or shifting to cloud, there wouldn't need to be all these layoffs.
this company hasn't innovated new product from the ground up since the router. everything is an acquisition for them. and then they fail at integrating it into their core products because their sour politics and lr's jettison leading talent.
Layoffs were originally a temporary thing. "Neutron Jack" Welch of GE changed its meaning to "fired" in the early 1980s and with each softening of the name it still means "fired."

In medical terms, impacted means something is wedged or blocked in a body passage or cavity, or that broken bones are driven together.

Workforce transition is a fancy name to get permission to lie! They said they were moving people to growth areas, and it was not to cut costs, yet growth and profitable areas like security were impacted in the past!
There is no accountability from the market for Chuck or Scott! How can they tell continue to tell lies to shareholders and employees and get away with this?? Most investors and shareholders don't care as long they make profit, but if you can't trust a CEO and CFO on their word, that's a problem!!!
The language doesn't matter. The outcome is the same. You're either in or you're out. Simple as that. If you haven't been preparing, that's on you. If you choose to stay in this whack-a-mole LR process, that's on you. I know employees wish their leaders gave a damn, but they just don't, they never have. As Chambers used to say "live in the world the way it is, not the way you wish it could be." When people show you who they are, believe them. And get out as soon as possible.

Cisco might be the only company that calls a layoff an “LR”. It’s always been called a RIF everywhere I have worked.
But never “Cost cutting”. That’s evil word.
