Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I fu--ing hate SBG

It’s a fu--ing toxic soup with every shade of politics under the sun. Every fu--ing person is playing a different game - the common thread is everyone is trying to backstab everyone else. Is the rest of Cisco this bad?

I never thought I’d be looking forward to a layoff in a bad market. But the 80 hour weeks of pure evil are ki-ling me.

Beyond disheartening.

PM and Engineering leadership at least are patting themselves on the back. To the rank and file - with one breath they say a perfunctory thank you - after all if it’s such a success, someone must have done the work. But with the other breath they call them slow, lazy, and useless. The cliques have run amok. The dog eat dog culture is encouraged by the VPs to make sure no one gets too powerful, and to see if they can use that to squeeze out more work. They’re offshoring work - but not accountability. Fewer and fewer people have to do the actual work, and a larger and larger group of their friends and sycophants get the money and the promotions.

It is really sick in SBG. There are several leaders, directors and VP's that are the root cause of SBG's misery. Unfortunately with an extremely weak HR, they get away with mu-der.

I’m in Engineering and it’s pretty disheartening at the moment. Leadership saying how awesome we are doing all the while Cisco is laying people off, we are offshoring people, and our bonus are garbage this year.

The soul su-king pressure is from the Survivor like atmosphere not just the amount of work.

Not sure what ‘Operations’ means in this context exactly or what they do, but I want whatever that guy is smoking.

I'm assuming you are in sales? I'm in operations and I love my team and leaders. The challenge for us is that we are OPEX and we are always pressured to do more with less. But, since that is everyone's mindset, we are always finding ways to be more productive and ready to do more with less.

Cisco has many different cultures and can look wildly different from org to org or even team to team.

Not in SBG , but politics are same in my group . Less work and more politics and taking credit for someone else’s work .

Is SBG the same as S&TO?

That's what happens when you stitch together 5 different products, toss it in the air, and declare to the world that Cisco is a leader in cloud security.

If you still has some humanity SBG will burn you out and build up PTSD. The pressure in SBG is not only from ridiculous workload, useless mgr make matter worse by encourage people attack each other.
