If any of you haters have Tiktok follow Paige Sparks the employment attorney in MO. She literally just posted a video saying if you are let go or fired from a company in the state of MO you can file a service letter with your ex employer and they have 45 days to respond with the exact reason you were let go or it's a lawsuit.

I had a manager tell me they were getting rid of the white guys in favor or a diverse team. But that’s ok, per HR. Nice.
They will frame it as "redundant position and the position no longer should be filled".
Business case: you're too expensive for Cisco (high salary, high medical expenses, high bonus, slow worker, outdated skills). We found a new replacement who costs just 55% with current skills. PS: Cisco is not a union shop.
MO is Missouri.
Montana is not an "at-will" state. That's why most companies would never hire employees in Montana. But in order to sue you have to give up your severance package, then wait and hope.....
Didn’t I see this ambulance chaser in a TV ad during Jerry Springer this afternoon?
The minute you go down this path you lose your severance package. One thing you sign in order to get your severance is that you won’t sue.
If you think it’s worth the risk go for it
"Your job was eliminated is not a reason?"
Mine wasn't-- they just took my team and put someone else in charge for less $$. Would love to see THAT business case-- but I'd have to file for discovery to see it and I'm still contemplating whether a lawsuit is worth the cost & bother.
Do you really think a huge company like this doesn’t know every state and country requirements? Seriously?
You don't need a reason to have a lawsuit, this is America. Now, will it get very far? Nope. Send the letter, still gets about the same distance :D and you will have a lot less money too.
So … everyone who is let go has a business case attached. I had to submit them for each of the folks I’m cutting.
What is a MO? Sound like disease. Is this a working illness?
It’s just biznus
I get why people are pi---d off, been there, done that. The reality is, unless you have a punitive damage situation other than garden variety LR (most areas are at-will, remember), you are wasting your time to entertain a lawsuit. Yes, it totally su-ks. Take the money, take a month off and move on with your life. Don't let this cancer live in your head rent free.
