Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I wish we never heard about upcoming LR

We would have been able to function normally. We would have one decent weekend before the horror show starts. Instead we have had tension and anxiety steadily growing over weeks, and this weekend is going to be a pinnacle of sleeplessness and worry. I sometimes think companies are doing this sh-t on purpose and some up top actually enjoy the show.

It doesn't matter if you expect the Spanish Inquisition or not, it's going to continue happening multiple times a year as it has over the past 23 years. If you weren't aware of that before this announcement you have an entirely different set of problems, and if you're really fretting over it you should have looked at better employment options starting 23 years ago.

If you are affected take comfort in the fact you escaped the madness. I was laid off over a year ago and never looked back. I know it's difficult in the moment but you will survive ! Good luck everyone.

The fact is that if you are on the list no amount of worry or sleeplessness will change that. Take a breath, be prepared, write down some things you want to say as if you are impacted, everyone you thought cared will ghost you. Be ready to move forward. If you are not impacted, then start looking for things that will make you better in the future and start looking at all of your options.

There will be more horror shows next year, and more horror shows the following year. This will not stop until Cisco is Xerox or Kodak.

Im unsure if I will be more upset getting layed off or not. I think the severance and not having to work here just to have a new layoff in 6 months might be the better option.
Not to mention Im tired of all the other bullsh-t and could use a long break.

"I have been full of anxiety and headaches all week long. This is by far one of the worst things a company could do. Not sure I’ll make it through the weekend."

Watch p0rn. Sm0ke w€€d. M@sturbate. Repeatedly. It ill relax you.

Only losers work for Cisco these days. Glad I left when I did couple of years ago. I still come here from time to time to read the comedy. Relaxes me :-).

Move on to another employer where you will learn something instead of being a career furniture and a "yes"-person.

This is the worst I have seen . Managers don’t care about employees and mental health . For them it’s just a number and layoffs are away to advance what they want by getting rid of people they don’t like or smarter than them

I understand your anxiety and I fully empathise. However, these LRs happen every quarter after every earnings call. Why are you surprised by it? Best thing you can do is interview elsewhere so you have another offer lined up. Even if you're unaffected by this round, your anxieties will still manifest itself come FY25 Q1 earnings.

It doesn’t matter if they announce it or not it’s happened roughly every 6 months for 10 years. Save and make a plan where you can survive when it happens. Worst case you have pay for 6 months starting Monday best case this is a wake up call to be prepared for the next one. You will be ok.
