Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Do the managers learn that they would be let go the same day as we do ?

I am trying to imagine a scenario when a manager has to go but also people from his team have to go.
Not inviting the respective manager to the HR training could mean one of two things:

  • nobody will be fired from his team
  • he could be let go

If he is invited he knows that someone in his team is being fired.

Now there is another sign that would let a manager know in advance that he is or he is not safe: he will receive a list of people who have to go a few days ahead of Sept 16.
If the respective receives the list he knows he is safe correct ?

If he does not then he is in the same boat with his team, he could receive the bad news the same day.

Do the above make sense ?

On my previous team that’s what happened. My manager’s boss delivered the news to him that he’s being let go and then to the ICs on my team they were being let go.

Makes sense. FLM does the dirty work and gets walked the next day. You know there will be some ancient csco secrets exposed then with names. I can't think of any worse planning ever at csco.

There is no logic how this pans out. Those on list will get fired, whether they fire others or not.

It won't happen, manager are very safe at Cisco. I see many times the them has only 2-3 member left mgr never let go. Even whole team got LRed, they will re-assign new IC to mgr.

FLMs will be firing their people on 9/16. Then those FLMs will be fired on 9/17.
