After we spent the entire day in office yesterday, I found my manager will be on PTO the entire next week, he was with us on lunch, having coffee, etc. and without notice, gone to PTO a whole week.
It seems trivial but he always let us know in advance that is going on PTO, maybe nothing or maybe something more.
I got an invite from a peer for team meeting preparation and i found out others from my team had been also invited in 30 minutes meetings the whole day.
Shall I not worry or start packing my bags?

My manager and director are both scheduled to take PTO also. Could it have been something that was duscussed during said leadership LR meeting? Just speculating but it seems like an interesting coincidence.
I came in this morning to learn that my manager did just that. They are taking the rest of this week off and just notified our team late last night. I am hoping that this is what they say it is... the need for an unexpected personal situation, but I am incredibly suspicious, as this is completely out of character for him. In the pit of my stomach I feel like we will be told on Monday that he's no longer here.
PTO is a polite way to say I’m impacted and don’t bother me.
This time would be heavy managers and directors included.
The managers are on "PTO" not PTO. Rumor is that some impacted leadership has already been informed. Somebody else already said the obvious that if sudden leave is out of the norm its not a great sign. Maybe your manager just decides mid-week to go out of office unannounced, but thats weird and out of place to a lot of other people.
If your manager is getting laidoff, why would she/he take PTO? He/She would be out anyways. Also, if he/she is on PTO next week, that means he/she would not be doing the layoff calls. I see this as a good sign. Maybe, he/she wants to disconnect while the dist settle.
RTP is closing.
Cisco is allowing your manager to say he is on PTO but he most likely is LR’d and can’t talk to you guys. Happened on my team in February. All of a sudden manager was out and we found out later he was not coming back due to LR.
It means something especially if it’s out of character. Your manager could have been “impacted”.
