Time to take a well deserved break away from technology - thank you for your very long partnership with the company.

Assuming you started working at Cisco when you were 23 yrs old, you would be 56yrs old now. Not bad, you can still land a gig but it depends on how current your skills are. Hopefully, you didn't spend all you pay like a drunken sailor. You can retire comfortably while you enjoy an early retirement. Peace out!!

You have more money than God. Now move along. Did you start when you were 20?

@hsk+1uxgqp3v dude why are you quoting one month pay for year of service isn't it 1 week for every year above 10 year service did something change in the package ? This seems misinformation

Wow! 33 years means you have been with Cisco starting in the early nineties. This means you were at Cisco when the stock split again and again and again. Also your severance package is outstanding based on one month pay per year of service. I would be so grateful if I was this fortunate.

Don’t believe OP, it’s spam. 33 years isn’t the longest tenured employee still at Cisco. Many (handful) have been longer than 33 and have lower numbers.

Some posts are to create fear and drama

I just want to say thank you for those many years. You no doubt had a huge impact on our success. The ELT may not appreciate it, but I do. Enjoy the next stage of your life!

I joined cisco 30 years ago. I left in 2000. I've been back since a few years. I think I'm the lowest badgenumber in engineering. (I check the Unix userids).

I don't recognize this company anymore. It's totally completely utterly different from the company I left in 2000. I almost feel ashamed to be working here. I'm not getting fired. But I wonder if I should just retire ....

Hey, what about all the people screaming for employees to be loyal to their companies? 33 years and you get the same level of notice as everyone else. Good luck!

Unfortunately, nowadays 33 years in one company is not something can be proud of.
It is the marketable skill matters.

I was right ahead of you. Its not as bad as one might think. I have completely enjoyed the last 4 months of reconnecting with my life outside of Cisco. Off to the gym to get some exercise followed by a nice lunch. Dont let this blip get in the way of the real reason you are on this planet.

If you plan on retiring soon anyways, isn’t getting the axe and the severance the best you could hope for?

Very sorry to hear you are having to deal with this. I too am a long time employee and the past 24 years have been he-l with these layoffs. Keep the faith and know you will get through this.
