You can focus on performance and support diversity like many tech companies.
Or you can focus on diversity and support performance.
Those are not the same thing. With one.. you make the ship bigger and there is room for everyone. With the other, you prioritize seats on the ship.
Peter Singer and effective altruists would agree on doing that which has the greatest impact... Which would be the former. the layoff is the result of our purpose not being aligned on actually making the biggest impact. Now the boat is smaller.
