I was LRed today while I was on a overseas trip. I am on a visa sponsored by Cisco which means that unless I am employed I need to leave the US immediately. As I am already outside of the US it means I cannot get back into the US to either find another job or deal with my stuff and rental. Not sure what to do as Cisco has cut me loose.

To "Create your own jobs in your own country." you do know it's the big American corporations that are creating jobs in India and bringing in Indian workers?
Don't blame the worker, or some other divisive b.s. Instead blame corporate greed.
Company should not LR a H1B holder
With that policy, Cisco would never hire another one.
This sounds like somebody that got a visa to enter the US and work, and then returned back to * to work “remotely”. Very stupid game to play that can have some nasty outcomes.
Get on a plane, now.
You always can fly back in and look for another job. There questions can easily be answered by calling HR. Stop polluting here
Sorry to hear about that. Stress doubled because you are overseas. Good news is, you are still employed for 2 months if i am not wrong or even if it is 1 month, you have this period and another 2 months to find a job at Cisco or outside.
I would come back as soon as i can and start searching. While i am outside, i'll start applying to jobs inside Cisco. Good luck!
"Company should not LR a H1B holder"
Excuse me? What makes you better than anyone else impacted? There are many who were laid off last year who are still unemployed.
Company should not LR a H1B holder, that impacts too much for the whole life, every one knows that Indian employees are in a long EB2 waiting list, need many many years to get green card
I agree. You are still employed until 11/15 and there is a grace period before you need to leave country,
However, I was under the impression that if one is on leave or vacation, they would wait until you get back to give you notice with the end date moved out. I know this is definitely true for leave but I am unsure about vacation. I also know that if you are away but working remotely, you are sc--wed an get laid off without delay.
You're fine dude. You're still employed for 2 more months. That said, DO NOT PLAY AROUND AND FLY BACK ASAP. Do not take a chance of not getting back. This is from a white man who realizes you're a human like the rest of us, so I do care about your well being. You'll be fine.
If your L1 visa employment terminates you have a 60 day grace period to find a new employer and transfer to another work visa or seek a change of status to a different type of visa.
Unless they told you different, you should be able to fly back. I see lot of racist responses!! Some days just hate the internet - it’s just opened a door for all the a-hole cowards
So you're saying you stupid and don't understand when your last day of employment is (you are still employed).
Let me guess your in CX.
"I am on a visa sponsored by Cisco"
There is a family out there who lost their income because of you. I'm sure you don't care so I don't either. Create your own jobs in your own country.
Too bad.
You are employed till Nov 15. You can definitely fly back before then.
Your last day is 2 months later? If so, you are still employee of cisco right now, after 2 months you will have 60 days Grey period to settle down your life after cisco if you are in H1B.
Dude, just fly to Mexico and you can cross the border easily like everyone else that’s not from here.
Hang in there. Sorry Cisco has shown no one any mercy.
I think you are still employed for 2 more months (until Nov. 15), shouldn't be a problem. You can call Cisco HR or people consultant to confirm. Even when unemployed, H1B has 30 days to stay here and find another job and transfer visa. Please confirm with a people consultant at Cisco.
