Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

After the dust settles (for now)

how long do you think it will take them to reorganize functionally? I can bet they will not be done before the next round of layoffs. Which means there will be chaos, understaffed teams, workload after layoffs thrown at the rest of us, bad gaps in work distribution, low morale, low efficiency, you name it. I wish not to be here to go through that particular mess.

Cisco isn’t going under - it makes billions in profits and makes some decent stuff. Don’t let LR justifiable bitterness cloud people’s reality. True, the relevance of Cisco at the top table is questionable these days and will further diminish because networking is just not up there in the Cx suite priority list. However, Cisco shifts a lot of gear at high margins, especially to federal and public authorities globally. I really can’t see that changing any time soon, as much as folks might want “revenge” on Cisco for LRing them.

I also believe this company will end up like Nortel or Lucent by 2025.

The circuit switching business died a long time ago which is why Nortel and Lucent died. The good and bad news is IPv6 is a disaster after 28 years ("internet speed" ain't what it used to be) so there is nothing on the horizon that will fully transplant IPv4. This means Cisco will like live in the grey area below the leaders in growth but no where near death for a very long time.

With 23 years of far more frequent than annual layoffs starting with a 27% RIF they still have near 65% gross margins so pretending that this is the biggest event ever that marks the end of Cisco is delusional.

Cisco is going down for the count. I expect it to be broken up and sold as pieces.

Lots of lawsuits coming in.
