Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New hires

I feel so bad for the new hires who are still in the honeymoon phase at XOM. They have no idea what's coming their way much sooner than they expect. This company seems like such an amazing workplace until you've been here a year or so and realize what kind of toxic mess you got yourself into. And when the reality hits, it hits hard.

OP, don't be stupid. Don't say this. We need them so we have enough id--ts for the NSI group. We get to keep our jobs and milk this dead cow dry. Come'on young folks, come join ExxonMobil YOUR COMPANY OF CHOICE.

Do not feel bad about employees or new hires. Note these are the people who would not get a job anywhere else. This is it man. S show.

lol at “feel bad for the new hires” juxtaposed with “until you’ve been here a year or so” 😆

OP is still early career and came here to complain like they’re a seasoned and scorned veteran

I suspect EM recruitment still mention fulfilling lifelong career and leave out the annual PIP sacrifices and yearly pressure on your Supervisor to move your work to India.

EM recruitment needs to be honest and inform potential employees that unless they obtain a sponsor, the likelihood of staying employed at EM until retirement is approaching zero.

Most new hires aren't dependent on a job. Pretty much hope on to the next one very easily nowadays. Considering GenZ

“I feel so bad for the new hires…”

Why? It’s an easy paycheck.

If you’re doing more than four hours of work per week in any oil company office, you’re getting it wrong.

Tbh, the work environment wasn't that bad before COVID. However, everything starts to nose dive southwards with the "revamp" of the ranking system, economy factors..etc.

I miss the good old days where I look forward to going work in EM. Everyone treats each other with respect and producing real valuable work instead of spending time watching our backs and playing the hunger game.
