Hoping Elliot Audits Leadership Remote Exceptions to Provide Equity

Let's be honest... it's complete bullsh*t that senior leaders get a hall pass to work remote out of state and get to travel in 2-3 times per month to WHQ on Nike's dime. We're talking first class flights (if VP), meals, rental cars and hotels on a recurring basis. Global Technology is a huge player in this space - EC from Arkansas, AS from San Francisco, MD from Seattle, not to mention the Atlanta Technology Center leaders whose entire workforce is at WHQ... At least the CIO has the moral standing to drive down from Seattle to be here in person because it's the right thing to do.

Whether people want to admit it or not, it effects moral. I am sure this is seen all across Nike. Do you think Elliott will enforce leadership to move to WHQ?

So many people salty about their own jobs. If you want a benefit that you don't currently have, find a new job. Stop trying to tear down other people.

This isn't the USSR. This is a job. "Equity" has no place in the conversation.

OP is abusing racial equality terms to argue for their own personal benefit. Shame on them

No one with a tech career wants to move to Portland. If you haven’t figured out how to Zoom in the 4 years since the pandemic, then I can only imagine how talented you must be in person.

It's a perk and one of many associated with being a VP.

Adidas seems to be doing just fine and they WFH and have massive flexibility. Maybe it’s more about being able to manage global relationships inclusively than having everyone in one place?

You could aways go work for Amazon who is full RTO if that’s your preference

Nike’s RTO policy is a joke, many people in my team (including my bosses) still WFH on regular basis and I have to spend tons of time slacking or struggling with zoom setup which would take only 10 minutes in person…

I think it’s fine to keep Friday as-is but we can’t tolerate any random excuses for WFH. Not a popular opinion for sure but we need to show some commitment.

Just be a VP and live elsewhere
Explain to plebeians that by living elsewhere you are actually increasing synergy, and thus increasing upward revenue stream dynamics

AS lives in Oregon why do you think he lives in SF?

So the whole "budgets are tight" narrative only applies to the rank&file employees. VPs and above still travel significantly and not for "only business critical" reasons either. They also love going to quarterly off-sites to all kinds of places out of state while there are teams reporting to them that have to resort to potlucks because "budgets are tight" again for Nth year in a row. Also, let's ignore donations to VP pet project organizations directly affecting "tight budgets" outside of Nike's official corporate giving strategy. But budgets are definitely tight.

I can only speak for our corner but budgets are tight everywhere but we’re still a worldwide company. Half of people’s teams are everywhere anyway, even before Covid. It’s cheaper for them to fly around than flying teams to WHQ and that was pretty common years ago. I always thought that was a waste.
As for remote work, productivity has gone down since RTO. That’s easily shown in project tracking.

It might happen but only if they underperform. Until then they are "too valuable" to risk letting go 🤡
