Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Marriott hotels

Why are all the Marriott hotels "out of policy"? A lot of them are super convenient but instead you have to cab to some hotel far away.

EM travel tries to force you to stay in far away inconvenient hotels to save $14 per night even though spend $30 extra per day on travel.

That hundreds of nights of $14 savings is added up and rewarded while ignoring that cost of extra $16 every day.

Logic like this is found in other decisions like spending $2 million to implement Hotdesking while saving $100k per year on air conditioning abandoned buildings that EM still owns and EM Security has forbidden the sale.

This company is doomed.

EM employees remind me of characters in that movie “The Platform.” Greedy and whiny just like your execs. Well done! Your WaEM is showing.

To those b!tching about "You're why we can't have nice things" and "Most people care about themselves." - you do realize you work for ExxonMobil, right? This place is the epitome of "I got to get mines before others get theirs." So, park your holier than thou attitude at the door. The employees should do what's best for themselves because the execs are doing the same. Monkey see, monkey do.

Almost everybody who cared about the company or each other is gone, so this thread isn't a big surprise. DW is getting rid of the few left as fast as he can.

I know Procurement does a global hotel bid every year, including Marriott hotels. But like others said - the hotels don't have to agree to give a good rate or any rate. If they don't, then why would XOM make them a preferred hotel? That'd be stupid.

Like others mentioned, that means that particular hotel do not want to offer a special flat rate for XOM. It is also travel company's way of "adding value".

If you stay at the non-preferred hotels, then those hotels have zero motivation to give discounts. So then they never get to be preferred hotels and so on and so on and so on. But hey, you got YOUR points.

Probably because Marriott won't give good rates to the company - if you comparison shop - since they know points wh$res will stay at them no matter what rate they charge. And that's also probably why there's never enough travel budget to go around. Most people only care about themselves.

But then I get a frowny face on the travel policy report.

Why are you taking any notice of what's preferred? I don't ever pay any attention to what's in policy.

If it's truly much farther then just book the Marriott, easy.
