GEHA, the federal employee health and dental insurance provider based in Lee's Summit, has informed Missouri workforce leaders of its intent to layoff several hundred employees at the start of the new year.
GEHA (Government Employees Health Association) says 453 employees at its Lee's Summit headquarters will be impacted. The company informed the Missouri Office of Workforce Development on October 18 that the company has decided to contract with United Medical Resources (UMR) to provide customized third-party administrator services.
Employee separations are anticipated to begin on December 31, 2024, with an additional phase expected in the spring, likely March or April.
At this time, GEHA writes, the separations are expected to be permanent.
