Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Layoffee or Retiree?

After having a good 20 year career at XOM, in 2020 like a lot of other employees it laid me off and in 15 minutes over a zoom call. Every now and then I get mails from XOM referring me as a retiree, what the heck?

The DW and the mgmt. committee decided to lay people of in 2020 fill their pockets and now the ba----ds are reaching out to those like me they laid off with and audacity of asking me to contribute to United Way and addressing me as a retiree. This company continues to spread sh-t! Stop spamming my mail box begging for money to UW so you can make yourself look good.

EM absolutely gets publicity and recognition in the area for the UW program. I was on the central campaign team once. More brown nosing and favors one candidate recently claimed even imagine. The check ceremony - full on publicity - with employees contributions.

Same here. I sent the letter back directly to ExMob's UW president, including a "friendly" note asking them to get their records in order.

I do not understand the animosity towards UW. I do not believe the claims that somehow the company is getting a whole lot of recognition over the donations. I have never had anyone when I mention that I work for EM say anything about how much EM donates to UW. Such a strange false narrative. I think people just are greedy and don’t want to donate to charity so they come up with this convenient narrative. Or they want to get more personal recognition for their donations so they want to do it outside of UW. I can think of some legitimate reasons why people would want to donate directly to their favorite charities but this whole idea that somehow the company benefits at your expense is total BS.

For my first five years at the company, I would submit my donation form with the big ol' goose egg promptly showing. My manager wanted to show 100% compliance, and they got it. Then I realized I could needle my manager by not even returning the form. It's micro aggressions like these that make me smile when I leave for home, feeling like I did a "job" well done.

It is despicable of XOM HR if they are harassing those who they forced out of the company by asking them to fund their UW agenda. Thought Tracy is bad but it appears that Inge is equally bad if not worse. How do these people sleep knowing how poorly they are treating employees as well as mis treating those they laid off. Shameful! HR get your sh-t together.

I’m a five year employee. I’ve never given a dime to UW, nor will I ever, through exxon

I took the PIL in 2020 and one of my greatest regrets, which I realized until too late, was that for my last paychecks, I continued to contribute to UW and they were no pennies at all. I didn't have visibility of my paycheck details since I had to turnover my laptop the same day I made my decision to PIL. My manager instantly escorted me out.

In the same boat. Got laid off in the poorly carried out process in 2020. I cashed out my pension lumpsum. Left as a layoff resource and still get retiree mails. And UW begging was one of the mails I got as well.

OP, did you get your pension and retiree health care? If not, I’m with you.

Just not clear from your post if you’re a disappointed early retiree or you’re one of the many that really got sc--wed out of everything.
