Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

How long does Bartlesville have?

Since leadership has made it clear that we are only successful when we are together, when are we going to move everyone from BVL to Houston?

A lot longer than Ponca City or the Purple Sage Ranch. Or Farmington. Or Corpus, or Casper or …

I used to think the cost to relocate to Houston would be prohibitive, but based on the Concho and MRO severance packages, it would not be as challenging as I would think.
It would also be a good way to deliver on the Competitive Edge since many would not move.
P66 has already shown how to do this.

Post like this should be pinned. It is the forever question.

The answer is always the same. Never.

Bartlesville employees aren’t trapped. They can work for any company offering a remote work schedule.

The jobs will move to India before they move to Houston.

I been hearing that B'Vile is moving to Houston for 10 years now. The rumors stopped when Houston got flooded and B'Ville continue to keep the company going and closed the books. Companies all like remote locations for disasters. B'Ville is not going anywhere. If you want to move up the company - you may want to move to Houston.

You must not have been to Bartlesville in awhile (probably because the air shuttle discriminates against us), but there’s this small company called Phillips 66 that shares market share with us in BVL

Why do people threaten we will lose everyone if we move Bartlesville if we are the only major employer in town? Where will everyone go?

Without Bartlesville, the company would quickly come to a halt. We may not have parking garages full of BMWs and cybertrucks, but we put in an honest days work, everyday, 8-6pm to keep our company’s lights on. If they mandated a move to Houston, you would lose 90% of the shared services staff overnight, and NxtGen would never be delivered, which is the #1 focus of the company right now. Hating on BVL is really easy when you’re typing it from your ivory tower in Midland, that gets a 10% living adjustment since it costs SO much to live in a desert.

I believe the MRO building is owned(synthetic lease) just as COP does with SP1/SP2. Plenty of room to consolidate Bville to Houston.

Good thing they are about to acquire more floor space in Houston.

I don’t think there is room for people in Houston but it’s going to happen. Shared services doesn’t bring in money so why shell out cash for buildings and maintenance when it can be consolidated. I’m sure Bartlesville will be gone by the end of 2025

I am going to say it - we should have been out of B'Ville whenever the finished the current Houston towers. The amount of empty space up there in B'Ville in my last visit 3 years ago was staggering. Consolidate that entire location - there is no assets up there nor reason to be there. Bo-m, there is a huge cost savings. (i know its not that easy, there are probably significant subsidies to keep us there)
