Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

This is all on bad leadership

The mess we’re seeing at L3 right now? That’s what happens when people who don’t belong in leadership roles are allowed to run the show. It’s not surprising considering that most of the higher-ups got where they are through nepotism and su-king up. And it shows in every bad decision they make.

“DEI includes the cornfed good ol’ boy”

No it actually doesn’t. We have clearly stated goals to hire a quota of women and people of color. We publish an annual DEI report as well as an ESG report that gets sent to investors that states this up front. Hard to argue we don’t have a DEI problem when our corporate goals explicitly include hiring quotas.

DEI includes the cornfed good 'ol boy. It's not about minorities. It's about artificial equality that slows down your best performers for mediocrity, to level the playing field. Upper management practices this. You level it so the incompetent are covered and your good contributors pick up the slack, regardless of race. If management does this, the blame is spread out. No critical thinking or accountability this way, woops group think.

What's that LBJ quote again about keeping certain people in the plantation, what's the word LBJ used? That's you to upper management, regardless of your race. Welcome to DEI, courtesy of the SEC.

Blaming DEI for layoffs instead of L3H buying BANKRUPT Aerojet Rocketdyne and padding the pockets of thousands of directors/VPs (the biweekly organization announcements for departments no one has ever heard of or interacted with) is pretty hilarious.

I guess the upside is these idi-ts and their pals are the ones getting walked out.

“This is the kind of discord they want between us”

Nah, the call is coming from inside the house. If the first thing you do is blame brown people and women for you losing your job - you’re the problem.

DEI vs White men. Republicans vs Democrats. Union vs salaried employees. This is the kind of discord they want between us lowly employees so we keep our focus off of the complete lack of strategy and accountability at the executive level. Don’t fall into the trap.

While people blame DEI for all the issues L3Harris is going through, Kubasik with his $20 million salary and golden parachute alongside all the wealthy investors are laughing their way to the bank.

Elon Musk and Donald Trump are vehemently against DEI. Tesla laid off 10% of their workforce earlier this year and Trumps casinos all went bankrupt.

You have every right to be angry. I just think your anger is misplaced.

Bad leadership isn't the problem- it's incentivized goals that reward for doing stupid things.

When you're told to get the company to 50% diverse, you do it. Even if it means hiring people you'd never normally do. If you're told to drop the average age, you do it. You get rid of your old white guys (and save $$$).

And then you take your 'win' and move onto another company.

Plenty of people mentioned which sites. Judy pick the right thread

Here in Redmond at least 10 people across multiple departments (Ops, Quality, etc), from touch labor to management, were escorted out with their severance "packet" (one weeks pay for each year or two weeks if under one year) in hand.
It's not a godda-nit conspiracy. It happened... And from that email it sounds like it's going to happen again soon.

@gmr+1v9sQxDY "...there is a lack of credibility here."
This is the email that was sent yesterday:
“We continue to evaluate opportunities to drive efficiencies, reinvest in the resources available to our workforce and maintain our industry-leading investment in technologies to satisfy our customers’ most critical missions. We made the difficult decision that a reduction in force was necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of our business. The action completed today impacted approximately one percent of our segment. This is one of many stops to continue to align operational costs with our strategic objectives. I appreciate your hard work, understanding, dedication and continued focus on our journey ahead.”
Is this the credibility you are looking for?

There seems to be layoffs happening at L3H, but no one mentions which sites, so there is a lack of credibility here.

"Trusted' and 'disruptor' are terms that often seem at odds, and it's clear we're still a long way from achieving true trust in many of these so-called disruptors."

The trend toward bad leadership began a few years ago after the most recent merger in 2019. Leadership from outside the industry was brought in to Phil key positions. Those people then hired others who were not qualified and the domino effect began. People who were young enough and talented enough to leave the company have done so. Others who were close to retirement elected to retire early just to escape. All that remains, sadly, are people unqualified and overpaid for the roles they were assigned. L3 Harris is in a downward spiral toward a catastrophic failure enterprise-wide. The defense department would do well to avoid future contracts with this company. Our warfighters deserve better.

Sounds like you need to be more engaged to become a trusted disruptor.
