HR is getting way to involved and putting too many unnecessary burdens on supervisors in this penetentry environment. I hear more about people talking about RTO monitoring than competing with Verizon or T-Mobile

After 3 days sick and still working my Mgr told me I needed to get a Drs note. I was sick as a dog but still working from home as one colleague was travelling on vacation and the other is clueless and needed my support. I think after 3 days sick and working VO a Drs note is required. My Mgr is nice but young and inexperienced so I assume was just going by the book.
They tried this twenty years ago. It failed miserably then, so why not a redo. Here's the way it went. if I need a doctor's authorization to be sick, then I am going to have to take an additional sick day off to go get that note. You can't expect me to drive when I am sick and hopped up on meds. Driving on meds is driving under the influence. Are you asking me to break the law?
Must be union.
FAKE POST for attention
I worked at Verizon. They are no better.
@dcr+1vHbvvaL As a former Vz employee, they do treat their employees a little better based on what I read here (no forced RTO or relocations), but they do NOT have better executive management. They also have pretty much monthly RIFs, as most other telecoms.
I guess I’ll snail mail my sick note to my boss that’s in a non-hub location.
ANY employer is better than Toxic-T and the Stink.
Not sure if this is a bs post, but guess what I am going to do if I get sick? I am coming into the office and spreading my disease. I'll be coughing and sneezing right into my hands, Then I'll take a walk around the floors and touch everything I see. We are going to be packed in tight come January 6th, it will be like we are on a cruise ship. The cruise ship Designation. I can't wait for a wave of norovirus to sweep through. Get ready for sudden bursts of vomit all over the shared workspaces, embedding into the carpet. Explosions of diarrhea working it's way over the tops of toilet seats and splattering the walls.
I have seen no such requirement. I don't see where it's spelled out that you have to visit a medical professional to determine whether or not you're I'll. That's just d-mb.
this is getting ridiculous, where will we send these sick notes? is there a centralized place? what happens if you are undergoing cancer treatment and have a bad day. none of this can be in any location as that would be a hippa violation. this is getting more absurd by the minute.
No one is requiring a dr note for a sick day.
So if I’m sick at home I have to go to the doctor? And then get a note?
At this point, we need prison Mike to give us all a pep talk.
I’m also interviewing at VZ. Only 2 days a week required, and they’re actually focused on a mission that isn’t just RTO.
Verizon is the vastly superior company. Much better executive management. They also treat their employees like human beings.
I'm switching to Verizon 6-8 days in office a month . Fu-k att Verizon better.
