I’ve heard they’ve started rolling out in Jacksonville where you also have to badge out with a minimum 6.5 hours in office for it to count as a day in office. Is there any truth to this?

When they did the renovations in Jacksonville, they had a lot of people filter out through a vendor side door, where you had to badge out… Fire alarm pulled, and guess that door did not automatically unlock… Everyone had to badge out and it was a very slow process. They removed the “badge out” option the following Monday a security guard at that door instead…
Can you not leave without swiping out? If you’re physically blocked in any form or fashion, then simply call the local fire marshal. That will be fixed in about 2 hours, guaranteed.
Although they never updated my badge in Jacksonville, we have to badge out of the door in order to leave the building...... only some buildings have this feature. Hmmm
What is the chip for?
I used to work out of the Wilmington DE office, and right before I moved offices (approx 2 yrs ago) they had just implemented a new badge system that required a swipe out.
Agreed though, that there may be OSHA safety and health requirements by state that may be influencing these decisions besides what was already commented on the costs, and if they can't enforce this in all offices, chances are good that they will not use what swipe out information they can get.
But who knows how far this RTO tracking will go really, it is like a really big game of chicken (imo).
California here - we got badges with chips years ago. No requirement to badge out.
It is considered a Fire Hazard for large buildings.
You think they really have appetite for THAT liability?
Can't see it. Not even from these jerkz.
Jax here. I haven’t gotten a new badge and we do not (as of yet) swipe our badge to exit the buildings
They can only track how many times you swipe unless you’re being investigated. Should they investigate you, they can pull times.
We got our new badges in Texas. It does have a chip in it and they are updating the turnstiles probably just for that to badge out.
They are so peeing their pants about expenses, there is no way they are spending extra $$$ on that technology.
It's stupid.
If they did, my team and I would simply rotate our badges to have each teammate swipe is all in once a month... or once a quarter if we enlisted friends/partners.
Stupid unenforceable rumor.
Considering how many employees are getting away with not setting a foot in the office (many by way of manager exception), I think any such policy would be very hard to enforce.
