Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How demotivating is the site you work at?

I have work across exxonmobil from upstream , downstream , btec, refiniery, Chem plant, midland and overseas. I can say some were better than others but the dysfunction was always present. Everywhere it was the same with the unfairness and chosen protected special employees. They all su-ked and this squid hunger game was always present. I have lost all motivation and respect for this company. I used to wonder why some said they would retire asap at 55. I know now why. The money was great but there was no respect or mention of the great work that was done by myself. There was only criticism and complaints about trivial things which I had no control over. Others who were protected recieved glowing reviews and promotions. The others did not contribute as much as I did. I was marked from the beginning as a low performer by a gossiping hipo. They sc--wed my career from day one. This hipo moved up fast on the backs of others. So I have been demotivated for the past few years. The managers don't even try to help the situation. It's always the same old tale of well if you just do more you can nove up. Problem is I am at the top my career potential and ready to leave. So there is no motivation for me. I wanted to do more earlier in my career but was not picked or allowed. Now it is too late. So the few get the golden apples and the rest get dirt. I have endured this for years and others I have seen have as well. I has not changed and only gotten worse. So yes I am very demotivated and indifferent to work at exxon. A smart company and leaders would utilize talent ok their best ability. Exxon has always done tge opposite by promoting undeserving persons based on perception, liability, good looks or relatives. You cannot win as tge game is fixed and your destiny at exxon is predetermined. No matter how hard you work or try you will not be allowed to excell because of the system. I have tried and seen many others but we all failed. One supervisor told a older worker honestly because of something said about them early in their career they could never be promoted. This was at least an honest statement and tge employee stopped trying so hard. It did not matter if they contributed or worked more or less their ranking stayed the same. Signed demotivated in my final resting place houston baytown area.

BTEC su-ks the worst. It is a true he-l hole. I feel sorry for the people that still work there. I learned the true meaning of back stabbing and a-s k isng. The nepotism was also horrendous. On top of everything else it stunk like sh it in the buildings because of the chemical plant and refinery. I worked at some bad places and BTEC was one of the worst.

Based on the number of typos and lack of grammar in your post I don’t think you’re as smart as you think you are.

“High Potential” employees write smooth and polished paragraphs in their sleep and then wake up and eat data for breakfast. Anyone can be a high performer if they try hard enough and play the game. Yeah the game su-ks, but it’s not anybody’s fault but your own that you’re not winning it.

The most demotiving place I’ve worked is Baytown Refinery. That place su-ked my soul out
