A Disappointing Year: A Year of Stagnant Salaries and Diminished Rewards

The company’s recent ‘bonus’ strategy is nothing short of a cynical ploy. By heavily weighting the company bonus pool, while simultaneously slashing individual performance-based bonuses, drastically reducing share allocations, and negligible or nonexistent salary increases, they’ve effectively devalued our compensation. It’s a clear attempt to reduce labor costs without the appearance of a direct pay cut. This is a slap in the face to the hardworking employees who have contributed to the company’s success.

After years of dedication and hard work, this is the reward we receive? It’s a blatant disregard for our contributions and a clear signal that the company values its bottom line more than its employees.

After 17 years at Fidelity, I’ve learned that working long days and being a leader who produces quality work gets you just a bit more than you teammates and really is worth the effort (unless you love your job and enjoy the extra workload). Wish someone had told me this earlier in my career here and so I am telling all you new hires now.

If they are scrimping on bonuses and pay this go around, then that might be a very clear signal that a VBO is in the offing.

Pay for the VBO with a reduced bonus and wage increase is on brand.

if you bother working hard for this company that’s your own fault; it’s not that Abby values the bottom line more than you, she doesn’t value you at all
