Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The Repercussions of Greed

Do not wish anything bad on anyone, but would not be surprised if execs @ EM were targeted and etched into casings were “NSI”, “PIP”, “PIL” and “WAEM”. The situation with the UnitedHealth Care CEO is alarming and it’s interesting to see how many have what is being called “morbid glee.”

At what point do executives take notice (and action) of the way their decisions, “structural improvements” and “policies” are causing significant harm to others? Easy to say, “you don’t like it - go get another job!” (Or insurance policy!) But, this is a systemic issue - the wealth gap is spreading at a disturbing rate and a lot of people are losing their savings / livelihoods / careers so the richest among us can increase their own payouts. It’s just not right and I can see how people can snap.

And by the way, for all the complaining going on: the insurance offered by EM is still a heck of a lot better than most companies out there. So that is calculated into your benefit package and loss you take if/when you leave. The first year I left EM, I was making less money AND was hit with a $12,000 medical bill b/c of a high deductible.

So yeah, I probably wouldn’t feel much sadness for some of the folks that made the work environment so toxic I decided to leave three years before becoming RE: if they were to be struck by a bus in their luxury vehicle after dropping their kids off at private school, while on the way to the country club while wearing designer clothes and a Rolex.

The national reaction has been interesting. WSJ had an article describing how the police were baffled at how little help they were receiving from the public on this case.

Like Op, I don't wish a bad actions against anyone, but the fate of the United CEO isn't unreasonable. Look at how many retired XOM employees are being limited in their health care coverage. They may have an illness and will be rejected. That's so terrible!
I hope EM Mgmt thinks hard about their actions including health coverage changes and poor raises. Those millions in bonuses the Execs are collecting will be worthless if they're not living!

Once we met Lee Raymond back in the 90's. He was covered by a large gentleman who was armed with a g-n. We were allowed to shake the devils hand and then moved away. The contractors were not allowed any face time with Lee. My supervisor is afraid of me right now. They think I might lose my mind a go on a spree. It is good to keep them scared . I knew a guy who would have outburst and say wild stuff. They left this person alone because they were afraid of him. Knowledgeable others would not say anything bad about them also. Eventually this person stated fighting with everyone and was piped deservedly.

@mdz+1vQSVZz5 From the link you posted:

Exxon Mobil CEO Darren Woods’ total compensation increased from $23.6 million in 2021 to $35.9 million in 2022 and $36.9 million in 2023, a 57% increase over two years. Exxon Mobil posted record earnings of $55.7 billion in 2022 after global energy prices increased due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and U.S. gasoline prices peaked at more than $5 per gallon.

This is BULLSH-T. How many lives were upended with NSIs during this same time in 2020-2022, in an effort to reduce headcount based on bogus performance reviews and “feedback”? If you’re trying to reduce headcount, why not give REASONABLE separation packages???? You know why? Because it cost too much and was $$$$$ out of executive’s pockets.

I hope DW & all his cronies absolutely rot in HE 🏒 🏒 🔥

CEO pay is out of control. I wish stocks increased as rapidly and reliably as Executive and CEO pay does.
