…..nah. Bfs will continue to protect its tech & management headcount. The train keeps rollin.
BFS WILL NOT be adding head count. Major group getting the axe.
If T wants to keep on paying for hours & hours of nonproductive exception time day after day due to a nonexistent workload then I guess that’s what they’ll do.
Surpluses are in the management ranks, not so much in the union ranks because it’s already happened over the years along with attrition.
Length of strike was pre determined by ATT & CWA to cover cost of upcoming 2025 surplus. Final Agreement was approved by CWA leadership before strike began. Considering an average surplus cost of 20k per employee - a months payroll will go a long way. MOA prevented any surplus activity for bargained employees in last year of contract, so cut backs in SE are over due. Majority of work is now being performed by prem techs with very limited work available on core side. All signs point to a targeted offer being made.
I asked my union steward and she would not tell me anything.
Molly, you in danger girl.
Outsourced contract labor is always cheaper than in-house employees.
Unions and all.
Fiber builds are being built behind your backs through gigapower venture of att and blackrock. Dont believe me look it up.
“The company is adding headcount for the ongoing fiber build and transformation from the copper network through 2029.”
Bull$hit. Have you no idea the size of the contractor workforce that is active and growing larger each day? They are laying fiber and doing fiber overlay over existing copper transport in SDU and MDU’s. The same contractor model is being employed Verizon and Metronet.
The company is adding headcount for the ongoing fiber build and transformation from the copper network through 2029. Construction already has req’s posted with more to come. The company allowed the bargained employees to right size through attrition and surpluses over the last decade. Now they need to add because the workforce will be aging out over the next few years.
There will always be selective surpluses in areas of the business that is reduced or no longer viable. They recently offered SIPP to CPE System Techs in the SE, not many takers so a surplus is coming.
BFS will be adding headcount. Bank on it.
In my opinion D3 surplus will be severe. For prolonging the strike.
