I’ve been working here for almost seven years, and it’s wild how much things have changed. In the first five years, I had one great manager and a couple of decent ones. But in the last two? It’s been nothing but disasters. Three managers, each worse than the last. It really makes you wonder how they’re picking people for these roles now. Something's definitely off.

I know of managers who literally have no experience or background in the field that they’re supposed to be managing. How in the world can you manage something that you have no clue about?
Easy. Go work for Bank of America. As long as you know the weekly buzz phrases to use, and appear as a “thought leader”, nobody will actually care if you have no clue, and are indeed the id--t in the room.
There is literally NO TRAINING for "managers" in this company.
These days, the word "manager" means nothing. It's code for Favorite.
So we work for a bunch of untrained, suk up losers who apparently only excel in protecing their own a$$es while ki$$ing others' buttocks.
Clock is ticking on this cadaverous brand.
@4yjn+1vR4Pcn1 - i only pointed out his demographic (middle age white guys) as an example that they aren't only hiring or placing DEI in seniro roles.
His demogrpaphic is no problem at all.
The problem is he is not very smart and only got hired because he has a friend at the top.
I actually prefer working for the middle-age, older white guys -- or anyone for that matter -- IF they are smart and know how to actually lead a team.
Oh come on... They handed you a middle age white guy. Your exact quote. Explain why you feel that category of people are detrimental to you or your career.
...and please be brutally honest.
I work at the Charlotte site and my Manager works in a BOA site in the UK. Due to time zones we never connect and when I need to connect they are never available or I get a d-mb or no response at all. No team meetings, just an email every few weeks about basic administrative stuff like corp training and other trivial BS. How does this make any sense at all ? Who decides these things?
The pay here has not kept up with inflation. I just do the bare minimum everyday. It is not worth it to bust your behind here. I know so many associates doing the same. When will this shlithole company start to revise salaries that commensurate with inflation.
You get what you pay for, and considering the fact that BoA hasn’t kept up with inflation, no raises over $150k (manager territory), and reduced bonuses…..incompetence is all you can afford. Until they recalibrate pay to current times, those who can - do it elsewhere. Those who can’t but know how to fake it, do it here….until they figure out how to do it and then go elsewhere for 40% more income…
Wait until the performance quality starts to show because of it. The bad deals that shouldn’t have been done for obvious reasons to those who know how to do what they do. Wait until that happens, and Wall Street gets ahold of it. Then….we’ll see some serious change.
Not just D&I - last month, we were handed a middle-aged white guy who knows bupkus.
Manager (noun), definition: incompetent dodo incapable of executing the most basic of tasks; a tool devoid of any skill who makes everyone around them miserable; useless paper-pusher who does nothing except take all the credit and pay; a$$-ki$$er who is only there to make the boss look good.
G0d forbid they hire a talented, knowledgeable REAL manager -- HR can't have anyone who might outshine the B0s, B1s and B2s!
I had a previous manager that was literally d-mb as a box of rocks.. I don't wish ill on people but I hated that man everyday he'd pi-s me off I started hoping he stub his toe walking to his desk just so he can have some sort of inconvenience.
This company is basically hiring and promoting buffoons now in management positions . I have lost respect for this company. I am also ashamed to be part of this shlithole company. When I first started they had very good mid level managers but now incompetent, non english speaking mothafockas. They are basically hiring people with GED'S for management positions. The conference calls are a complete shlitshow . I am not against DEI but damn , don't just put any id--t on there .
It's certainly not merit-based. Mostly, it's driven by DEI, with a helping of cronyism.
Whenever you move away from being a meritocracy, you're courting disaster. It's taken a few years to be completely exposed, but the results of DEI being the driving force behind every decision is now on full display...and it ain't pretty.
