EM admits HiPo system failure

EM systematically going outside for top executives is an admission that the internal HiPo system does not produce leaders.

Leaders cannot be developed by placing them into random departments that they do not know and cannot lead, and by protecting them from any challenges.

Any time a HiPo might be exposed to a challenge that is not 100% guaranteed successful, the HiPo is suddenly transferred to avoid potential bad exposure.

The other major fallacy is that HiPos that exhibit absolute stupidity are not dropped off the ladder, but instead their weaknesses are covered up by threatening phone calls forbidding any mention in ranking sesssions. HR does not want to ever admit a mistake so protects the poorly performing HiPos and perpetuates disasters for years as the id--t moves around departments.

The HiPo system needs an external consultant to expose all the weaknesses. We need to produce leaders that have struggled many times in nearly impossible situations and not babied/protected golden child mo--ns from or current HiPo system.

It was obvious when the hiring of an External Executive Recruiter was posted.

Hire someone from outside EM, with zero ties to EM, to recruit external Executives for EM.

As a supervisor I reduced the ranking of a HiPo from O to E. A day After the ranking session my manager came in to my office closed the door and said this persons sponsor had told my manager that the Hipos ranking was O and should always be O or OWD or there would be consequences. Amazing what a sponsor can do! I never did find out who got dropped so that she could return to O that year and the rank group could still meet the distribution. Interestingly my ranking dropped that year with no explanation. Message received and understood.

EM chooses HiPos prior to any evidence that the person is a HiPo.

EM then protects that chosen HiPo from any real challenges.

If the HiPo makes terrible mistakes because it is an id--t, phone calls are made to ensure the mistakes do not affect ranking.

EM will never admit that a HiPo was chosen wrongly and will continue the upward trajectory of a dangerously stupid mo--n.

EM then sources Executives from outside that have less knowledge of our business than a poorly chosen HiPo id--t.

EM chooses to recruit executives that failed at GM (or an alcohol distributor), and never recruits knowledgeable industry experts such as a Shell VP or Chevron VP.

There is zero effort to correct their above cycles and much effort to repeat.

This could be anyone in authority they are all the same. No integrity or soul. Just blind evil ambition. Don't get me started about the related persons and friends. Nepotism.

This is the way here at exxon .pick the person who knows nothing to lead the ones who know all. I love when they put a non technical supervisor in a position they have no idea of. I am tired of supporting the se a holes. I used to say to the uppers that I would help them and make them look good. I did this and they did not do sh-t for Me. One person who moved up was a junior engineer. I and another help him moved up. When he became supreme leader he would not talk to us or acknowledge. They change with power. One guy was piped by the very person he trained up and built up. I used to help out everyone but not anymore. I am becoming a toxic , Introverted as h Ole. I hate to be this way because I love to offer ideas and help out. I love the challenges and solving problems. My vast knowledge base
And experience is being wasted here. Sorry disfunction breeds disfunction. E xon will get what it deserves. A bunch of d-mb as--s running the place. Clueless leaders whom make the worst decisions. Like puting a interior designer in charge of a drilling operation. Or a home economics person as and completions engineer . These are true examples. A former gang tattoos man is a supervisor now. I love the way they hide this by wearing Long sleeves and nu-e colored arm sleeves. This place makes no sense. If you are liked and not educated or experienced in the area they place you in your fine. Kissing a ss is the best way to get promoted. They don't pick the best most educated person for the job. They pick the best a ss kiss or person who will not challenge them. A blind minion that will follow orders. I am too experienced to keep quiet. I know too much about the shady operations. No integrity in this place only wild disfunction.
