Anyone else get penalized at YE for having expressed an interest in new opportunities? So much for ‘vitality’…

If you have a S#!+ manager, you shouldn't say anything - there are those of us that truly want the best for people, especially top performers. It su-ks that you got a "manager" and not a "leader."
As a manager, I only have a fixed amount of money to distribute. If I know you're going, and you're a good performer, I'm not normally going to give you what you might have gotten if you weren't going. You'll still get something, because I don't want to be flagged in reviews. But...I'll distribute excess and take a little away from you to curry goodwill with the next person.
It doesn't benefit you to discuss you want to move: if you don't move, then you look like a loser and can't get work elsewhere (and I'll save $$$ for someone else). If you do move, then I'm happy I didn't give you anything extra.
Only inform your manager of your moving of when it actually happens.
If it's a negotiation ploy, it'll work, once...but in the long term you're on the s***list.
If you’re looking outside of Fidelity, don’t say a word. If you’re looking inside, your manager approves the process, so you should be discussing possible career paths with them during nearly every one on one anyway. Everyone on your team should be doing the same, and it SHOULDN’T effect comp. However, bad managers do exist. I guess I’ve just been lucky, and almost all of mine have been great.
You need to be very careful as that might work against u. I was lucky. Told my boss that i was planning to leave for greener pastures. I was on a critical project so my salary went up by 38%. I had already secured the job so had to turn it down after the raise. I got 500 shares and a big bonus as well that year
They worked the whole year and have qualified for it. Why would they want their bonus to go to other people?!???!
This. If you're leaving us, why not shuffle the bonus to other folks on the team that might stay?
Never tell your boss that you are looking for other opportunities.
