In order to avoid being let go you HAVE to kiss up. It's not based on anything other than favoritism.
Also, your name is on the list at least 45days prior. So, your manager will know if you're being "chopped."

Evaluations are a joke. They are a HR smoke screen to help convince you to work harder and explain why you can’t be promoted. Oh, and also a way to get rid of people. What you write has ZERO bearing on your overall rating. If they want you to be a meets they will come up with a story to support it. Period.
So why is there a big push to do evaluations?
@3clj+1vWUofxg As a former PL (laid off in Oct last day in Nov) that is true. We are not allowed to have more than 3-5% of the people in the entire org and each sub org above meets expectations. I even had to mark someone as does not meet on one thing in order to give them an exceeds on something else. It’s ridiculous.
There is no way to rationalize with irrational behaviors. You can’t change leadership styles, unfortunately its just who they are.
Auditors also must find something. It's not a random case they pick, they search until they find something. Even though we are doing best we can with an outrageous workload.
Why would you settle for clipping coupons while others get a bonus when those others are getting a bonus off YOUR hard work? You're clearly not honoring yourself nor putting much worth in what you bring to the table. Most people want to get paid adequately for their hard work, not clip coupons because they're undervalued but you do you!
Don’t feel bad for not kissing up. You have integrity and that means more than being an overpaid seat filler. If we can’t be valued by our work and honor the values of the company so be it. I will keep clipping coupons to eat while the others get a bonus.
So true. HR pumps up the performance review cycle and preaches about it being objective. It’s anything but that.
It’s funny how they can get into a room with HRBPs and literally agree to quietly lie to each other about how fair the process is.
They decided what rating you were getting before your PL has even read your review. Facts.
My PL says she can only give “meets expectations” per her leadership. This is interesting that it actually matters lol. Unless you qualify for bonus then you receive higher.
Don’t forget that salary, age, s-x and annual reviews go into the quotient for layoffs. If you think otherwise, then you haven’t been looking at the history of the company or been in the meetings leading up to the layoffs. .
People…you’re already stack ranked.
They have known for months who they plan to cut. It’s not a recent decision.
Yes, favoritism plays into it. Just like high school - being popular counts more than skill. Being easy going is better than pushy.
Most definitely, there is some shadiness going on within this company, I’m being threatened with a PIP, time to start looking else where, unfortunately you are correct, nothing but favoritism in this company.
Nothing is based on anything other than favortism. If you’re thought anything different, you haven’t been here long enough.
