Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Evaluations are ridiculous

Like everything else. When you find yourself on a chopping block, it’s never because you didn’t work hard, or didn’t have good results, or were lacking skills and expertise. It’s because you lost in a numbers game. So don’t worry about whether you met expectations or not. Just be worried about being laid off, if you must. If your number is up because profits, you’ll be laid off even if you were the employee of the year.

For the dude above who thinks we rto laid off people dont do our work etc, you are so freaking mistaken you have no clue. The hate u have towards someone who doesnt spend the 8-5 time frame in the office is not only ridiculous but also childish. You need to get over this notion that people who wfh goof off. I have never worked a standard 8-5 shift at bny (except for training when I first started). Otherwise if reports are due or clients have sent trades to be processed I have either gotten up early or stayed up late to get work done. I have worked weekends sometimes to get interest payments processed for clients so they dont show up on CF on Monday. Ao maybe instead of complaining n focusing on what others do with their time if they arent in office, maybe you should focus on yourself “Kasetta.” The letting go of these employees just means more work for the others remaining and from what im hearing in the Houston office, both managers and employees are mad n frustrated. More work, low pay still. Its not like their salaries are being increased for the extra work. I can also guarantee you “Kasetta” if that is you that you and others are not working the whole 8 hours while you are in office. I will say this but if bny offered to pay for parking in the US offices, majority would not have an issue ever coming in. I know for many the parking fee is an added expense. If they got rid of it I would come in all five days no questions asked! So again focus on yourself instead of others cause just cause u come in dont mean you are safe. Your corporate hr overlords wont care.. someone could tattle tale on you so watch yourself

Well said, OP. Same thing is happening to me. Getting ready for the January round. Hopefully they won't mess with the SUB as these guys care for nothing. They want to see "efficiency savings" every quarter to make BK go higher. After all, they can do that for a few years and the gang will move to some other place.

The sad fact that follows is all the fallout post layoff. Emotions can be overwhelming - mainly anger since you’ve done nothing wrong and more than likely been working your a-s off. All the stuff that you’re now thrown into - updated resumes, sub pay requirements, unemployment, interviews (few and far between), scams, finances and worries. But BNY and a-lot of other companies continue to upset lives without a second thought while claiming to be all for mental health.
