Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Chancers and Opportunists

Any top tips on dealing with colleagues and managers who constantly lie to your face. And then when questioned ignore those facts as if they never happened.

How do you reconcile this kind of behaviour with a workplace that doesn’t lead to toxicity and failure?

Should I just give up and become cynical like so many other posts on this site.

Answers on a postcard.

Some good advice on training. Keep your skills polished, focus on your appeal to future employers and keeping your own mental health in good shape.

But you do need to get real if you want to stay long term, accept others will not support you, accept people around you will throw you under the bus at the first opportunity. Forget normal rules and etiquette, you are an inmate doing time.

One very important thing if you decide to Retire in Place. Make sure to avail of any and all opportunities to hone your skills and improve them. Make sure to take all the technical courses that they offer as well as volunteer to be part of any real projects that your organization is involved with. Great way to pad your resume and skills, when the day comes.

You do not accept it, you move on to the next opportunity.

Accept the reality of the situation, or simply move on, choice is yours. No sense venting it openly as nobody actually cares.

Don’t go cynical. RIPit. Retire in place. They don’t help you. You don’t help them. Have the best 1-3 years of your life. Doing nothing but extracurricular. That’s how long it will take the worst management in the world to process you out on…SAP. Haha SAP total IT cr-p like the pollution and the people that make it. Don’t care about PMP. Don’t care about anything. You are entering phase 2 of working and living in the biggest cultural he-l hole in the world and RIP gets you to phase 3.

If you are in your mid career, doesnt matter how bad that's it, working for Saudi is career su----e. If you think you go there, and just su-k it up for a little cash, you will be wrong. Not as good as what it used to. Plus if you decide to go back to the modern world, it will be a significant pay cut and may have mental health issues. At the end of the day, it is personal choice. Try it out and you will regret.

Sorry...you are already there. Now that you are in the "acceptance/reality" phase of your Aramco career, either su-k it up and live for your monthly apology deposits or leave. Not trying to be harsh, but rather giving you your only 2 options.

Ok...I'll say it. Nothing that you can do. Make peace with it, learn to live with it, become a student of stoicism, whatever...something. ..."gonna have to serve somebody".
