I hope the coffee badgers and the 10-2 people are happy- they've managed to get us all moved back to 8 hour office 5 days. I am very bitter that instead of managing the people that took advantage all of us are being punished. On my three days, i am often one of the first ones in and last one to go. This new practice is lazy, ineffective and will cause good people to leave. We've seen it during the waves- the high performers all find new jobs and the people that move are the middle and bottom tier. I am scared of our future.

Myself and 5 co workers, all that had been working full days in office 3 days a week plus 20-30 hours weekly remote, told our boss together that we will all be opening our external searches for jobs immediately if we are required to come in 5 days a week. As you can imagine our boss is panicked but it’s true. We all spent the weekend updating our resumes and starting searches. There was one other person on our team that wasn’t engaged and productive and they should have just addressed that person and disciplined or fired them.
Everyone needs to tell your boss and their boss that you were not a productivity problem and as such you should not be punished for other slackers. Tell your leadership you are immediately starting a search and will no longer be working evenings or weekends. The crazy thing also is that we were virtual 2-3 days a week BEFORE Covid. So they are wanting us to be in office more than we ever had to before,
10-2pm is 4hours. I don’t know if I qualify that as coffee badger. Many people have long commutes and children to pick up in crazy traffic. They may work 4hours in office but they’re also taking calls from their car and working several more hours at home in the evening. What should matter is if work is being done. Hours wiggling your mouse doesn’t make you high performing.
I never believed in the necessity of RTO 5 days/week until reading messages on this board.

You are delusional if you think this wasn’t the plan from the beginning. They can use the coffee badgers as an excuse all they want but they don’t want people to be comfortable. They want you to quit.
They don’t care about any of us.
