It's obvious PG/ELT/BoD are all engaged in magical thinking. The initial ICF attempt failed, they bought the only big name customer (Altera), with no real sustainable revenue. The current IDM2.0/IFS is on its 4th year, and the only "announced" customer was Amazon.

It's painfully obvious no one trusts Intel to be the fab, in the current structure. PG thinks if he just runs his mouth and shows more pretty PPTs, things will finally change, and all the whales will come pounding on our doors and begging for our foundry.

Magical thinking or insanity.

It's like an atom now. Can't be split further to make any sense

Product design without fab has better chance to survive even though it may slowly lose market share still. Without the split, fabs will drag down the entire company for sure.

If it splits neither one will survive. The product design side isn’t competitive it would be bought by another company for the IP and 95% of the employees would lose their jobs. Fab needs product side since it doesn’t have any substantial customers on it’s own.
