BTC Engineers Demanding Expat assignments to USA

What is up with all of the BTC engineers demanding we send them on expat assignments to the USA and all the ones who we do send resigning once their assignment in the USA ends and they are scheduled to go back to India?

We all know that BTC employees were hired because they are second class and CHEAP. It makes no sense to expect absolutely anything from them. The truly excellent indian scientists and engineers don't stay in India. They move to Europe or the US for a better quality of life. Coming to the US is just for them to get a visa and jump to another company. That's it.

BTC expats in USA make zero sense. The India tax laws require the company to pay taxes in India and the US so the Indian expats end up being no cheaper than US employees.

The BTC folks that I work with on campus need to be on Student Visas because she they sure do not qualify for Skilled Work Visas.

Definitely agree with the comment about toxic US expats in the BTC. Clearly only here to make money, not developing their teams and extending their time in India

The BTC engineers that are on expat assignment to Spring Campus are roughly equal to clerical staff. Booking meetings and taking notes, but not contributing anything of substance.

My group did this and won’t do it again. Once you transfer a btc engineer to EMHC they become HC10 headcount without the experience. It’s a double negative

They will move to the US, get a green card and then say they ain’t going back…happens every time and we still act surprised. We also have some toxic US expat in BTC too….

Honestly, are BTC folks even in a position to "demand" anything? They were hired to backoffice jobs (and can't even follow steps 1-10 doing it) and have now been given roles beyond their capacity and caliber to support reduction on force on west.

Last I heard BTC employees do this because of poor career development plans(non existent) and lack of professional conduct by some of their insecure American colleagues.

Encourage every BTC workmate to interview with Chevron. Chevron interviewing in Bangalore right now with a target to hire 600 staff in first year.

Great opportunity to write that next paragraph on your CV. Maybe Chevron will send you on an expat assignment!

Somehow XOM thinks they can solve India's work culture where all the big tech fails is just ignorant. That is a nation that value class system value work title over all else, the moment XOM fails to deliver that promise, they will quit and find alternative ways of getting what they want.

Happy to see how EM does business with a corrupt country like India.
I wonder how Ukraine feels about it.
They also send corrupt politicians to Canadá and do their president dirty work.
Glad to see they care about ethics

Yes. Their jump boards to land their next job to help them migrate into US in another US company. Do you really think they are there to slog their life for EM?

They get experience that pads the resume and helps them jump ship.
