Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

LOA and Notice

On maternity leave and got notice today. Called HR Displacements and was told my 60-day notice runs concurrently with my leave. Before I had my baby they told me if I was laid off while on leave my 60-day started when I returned. Also laid off on maternity leave — heartless. Can’t find language in handbook to challenge.

In the 90s guys got three days off and ladies six weeks for a child. Now, people get offended for less than four months. As for the layoff I’m truly sorry about that but if they had it different people would try to be on loa when it happened. Layoffs su-k but we generally get 60 days non working notice. Didn’t happen that way 15 years ago. Be blessed w your baby and the fact you don’t have to put up w wf garbage anymore.

im sorry to hear that. practically speaking the notice period end date is the later of the 60d or your leave end date, which is when you come back to company active status (your leave is being paid for by an insurance company, not wells). then your severance will begin.

LOA or FMLA does NOT provide a blanket protection from having your employment terminated. At the same time it is not a death sentence.

There may be some state specific laws (looking at you Kalifornia) but Maternity Leave is not Federally protected and is provided as a benefit to the employees. So yes, you can be severed while on either and it will run concurrently.

I think it's specific to 60 day, but fmla and LOA are continued and severance is paused. Then after you LOA is over, severance starts.

  1. This issue is a mega problem and a poison to society...
  2. It’s frustrating to see companies report mega profits while still laying off employees.
  3. It feels like the human aspect of work has been discarded (yep, to maximize profits._)
  4. cuts shouldn’t be the first option... especially when profits are already thru the roof.
  5. Cuts are pure corporate greed.
  6. Stronger labor laws or unionizing are a must.
  7. Cuts negatively impact people’s mental health, causing constant anxiety. We are all nuts nowadays,..
  8. yep, shouldn’t have to accept this as the new normal.
