Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Glad that my job is safe as a machinist

We are the core of Boeing and happy that management values us, thats why we got 38% raise. The extra baggage needs to be gone as they are taking away profit for Boeing. We need more IAM workers to replace them.

it is so simple... if any business in any industry has a sudden increase in 38% of their cost structure, they will be forced to adjust. In the case of most publicly traded companies, that also means a proportional downsizing in staff. proportional - including YOU, machinists. You voted in your own demise. Of course there is fat to be trimmed but if layoffs are a surprise then the naivete' among the ranks is shocking

If one produces a lot of scrap on their assigned machines, don't worry, management will work with the union to can their rumps via the layoff.

Soon you will all be laid off at Boeing commercial. The execs looted the company through 121 billion dollars in stock buybacks without investing in the future.

Airbus is already on its way to release the first hydrogen powered, zero emission commercial flight. Boeing laid off the engineers who could have come up with an answer.

You are not a true machinist. Just like most MEs are not real engineers.

No, Boeing values one thing and one thing only - MONEY!!!

More money for execs
More money for stockholders
More money for the BoD
More money for golden parachutes.

They don't value machinists and are actively working to use automation to remove as many as possible

They don't value engineers as they have already deployed AI to replace them with people who just feed the AI.

Good luck!!!

Welcome to the 21st century, machinists do not bring value to the company its Machinery that brings value to the company.
Robotic drilling is replacing you guys.
Engineers are working on robotics to paint parts too. There are Boeing sites in other states with AGV's that are programmed to deliver the parts to its programmed destination.
Boeing values and needs the engineers to continue with advanced technology to utilize less manpower.

Machinists bring the most value to the company. AI will replace the rest of you paper pushers in the future. Learn a trade people or get out of our way.

Harddly any layoffs in IAM. Ya, maybe some that were hired in within the last 6 months or so, but that's about it. Due to criminal mismanagement the FAA has capped the 737 at 38 a month, so the new hires may get summer off and be called back at the 4th quarter of 2025. Problem is, Boeing knows that only about half will accept a job coming back so they are seriously considering just keeping them on. Good luck to everyone. That is the way it is.

10 yrs and under will be gone. After the new yr. Most won’t enjoy the small pay raise. Unless your in a specific job title. We’re not goin up in rate for along time .definitely not enough to justify keeping all these people.

I read that someone talked to Boeing HR and said there would be no IAM layoffs.

OMG!!!

You believe Boeing HR, that's sad in itself.

But guess what...guess what Boeing leadership said in EVERY SINGLE ALL HANDS MEETING at every level since July.

"There are no planned layoffs in 2024 or 2025"

Good luck, IAM is going to get hit. It just depends on how many came back to work as to how bad.

Seriously this is so inappropriate on a day where others are losing jobs. I am so sick of hearing about how wonderful machinists are and how irreplaceable they are. Go back to the shop floor and do some work.

Trim the useless fat. If you don't touch the airplane, or are directly involved with manufacturing (engineers, programmers, planners, etc.) Should never have a job, useless fat like the DEI department should have never existed. Only wastes money and brings the company down. When boeing was boeing, none of that stuff existed, and was a giant powerhouse in manufacturing.

I agree without the machinists there is no Boeing, we have greater value to the company.
