Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

UK Fife / Fawley Salaries

Hi All,

Looking to get some data points for an MPT Career in UK.

Was wondering if we could all share YEE, CL, Typical Performance Category, Role & Salary so we can help each other build up an idea for Financial Planning purposes?

I have no idea of what my salary could look like in 5, 10,15,20 years time -
I've seen a lot of posts from US & BTC but rarely for the UK!

I'll start, Chemical Engineer, 2 Years YEE, CL23, Very Good - £49K

Thanks,

Europe will be sold out before end 2026 to avoid CSDDD.

Strong information to support Rotterdam and Antwerp being sold as a combined entity.

You are finished. Exxon will not exist in Europe in a few years. The usa will linger longer but will shrink. Get out ASAP dummy.

Management will tell you that your pension is 'gold-plated' and that the typical MPT should expect to retire fabulously wealthy with a seven-figure pension due to their unwavering generosity and benevolence.

DB pension structure is used to obfuscate the true value, and enables plenty of misleading statements to be made regarding its value (e.g. 'akin to public sector pension').

New grads are on the revamped scheme, which is ~40% less generous than the previous scheme. It is also inflation capped at ~2% per annum, so a totally different beast to a civil service pension.

All in all, it'll be worth ~£500k for the average graduate if you manage to make it all the way to retirement age.

'Financial planning' lol none of that needed here, it is a hand-to-mouth existence on typical UK EM wages.

More crucially, and particularly for an early career professional, opportunities to climb up the ladder are essentially non-existent for the vast majority of the European workforce.

Be prepared to rim execs and play the game in order to achieve career 'progression' (e.g. a temporary assignment to Brussels, then back to base), otherwise the path of mediocrity is nailed on.

If these wages are accurate, I would keep looking. I earned more as a postdoc almost 20 years ago!

You really shouldn't be concerned about salary growth from graduation to EM in the UK. Industry is closing up shop in Europe, any work that is left is all going to low cost countries and the direction of travel for these will not change. Move away from EM ASAP.

Under no circumstance go work for ExxonMobil. Much less to a High Cost 10 country like the UK. Don't be stupld. Please, read the comments in this forum. You'll be trashing your career there. DO NOT GO WORK FOR EXXONMOBIL. You've been warned.
