Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Business/Operating Hours

When did standard business operating hours become 6a-2p for half the team!? Peers on the east coast are gone for the day by 11a my time. An entire operations / business support team is basically offline by 2p ET everyday! So frustrating and absolutely unproductive and unprofessional. Must be nice to have quiet hours on end every morning to get caught up.. but the rest of us are waiting for answers.

West coast would log on early for 9a EST calls, but they can’t work a single day until 4 or 5p because “I’m online at 6:30a and off at 3p everyday so I can get my kids from school.” WHY WOULD THE BANK NEED YOUR TEAM TO WORK BETWEEN 6:30-8am?!? We need you here until 4pm so we can actually get work done and schedule productive calls that are likely after 2p ET!

On days I'm in-office I get in around 7:15a ET, work through lunch then head home (20-25 min commute) and finish my day around 4:15p from there. Remote days I keep similar hours. First 30-45 min of the day is usually checking on overnight jobs & requests from our offshore staff.

Some roles have time sensitive responsibilities early in the morning and it's not necessarily quiet time. Batch job validations and system health checks are run to make sure things are working before the business starts the day. Often times issues can be identified and remediated before most of the world comes into the office saving down time and lost productivity.

830am-11am PST is plenty of time to get your calls in with east coast folks. Deal with it.

First, In California B of A leased most of there buildings and land so Jeff Bezos when he purchased the Brea location there was no reasonable price for a building to be leased and the 3000 people who worked there are all working from home.
The 6:00 am to 2:00 pm is strictly for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve as there are people on the East Coast work from 11:00am to 8:00 pm

Uhhh… we care because we can’t get much accomplished when we can’t get on a call with our peers to finalize projects because they’re leaving the office at 2pm ET (11a PT)! I’m not making myself available prior to 8:30a (11:30a EST) anymore.. I’ll give exactly what I get and the boss can ask why we can’t connect and I’ll enlighten them.

I'm in California and have tried to leave 5 times!!! But they throw more money at me.

Up at 4:30am PT, head into an office (where admittedly I don't work with anyone) and then head hime 2pm PT (=5pm ET).

So I put in the hours, go to the office and work a full day.

And may I ask what business of it is yours?

They are laying off a lot of the people in simi, westlake, and brea leftovers early next year anyway. Haven’t you noticed them shifting work and responsibilities to other areas of the country if not world? Outsourcing entire areas to third parties as well? Read the writing. They save money by hiring people in other states/ countries for one. And that’s all they care about in the end as they believe you can train anyone to do anything that isn’t their jobs. So if you are in California, best to checkout the jobs ads over the holidays and start applying….

I couldn’t agree more! I start at 8a PT vs 8:30a to accommodate a team call with my East Coast peers… the least they could do is work until 1 PM my time (4p their time)..

Why do we keep the people in California? They don’t have to go in office as it’s closed. They get to work from home everyday while the east coast has to go in the office three days a week.
