PTO When You Quit

Looking very hard for a job with a different company in the New Year. Just curious if anyone knows what happens to accrued PTO (when you resign). Wanting to use sick days to get that vacation paid out. Is it use-it-or-lose-it? I've gotten very cynical of the company in the past four years.

I would ask HR, but they are useless

You must be legacy PDC. They had PTO. Chevron doesn’t.

Accrued vacation gets paid out. It is taxed like a bonus.

It depends on your location and payroll.

Chevron doesn’t do PTO you have vacation and short term disability. They are very generous with short term disability. They aren’t going to pay that out. I think vacation accrued current year is paid out .

In California it’s the law that companies have to pay out earned and unused vacation time. I’m not sure about Texas or other office locations but I’m sure you can look up the policy in the hr website

How can you work here and not know the answer to that question? You can look that up pretty easily and everyone knew about the last changes to the vacation policy. Troll.

When an employee leaves Chevron, only earned and unused vacation is paid out. This payout is usually made at the same time as the employee's last paycheck, but it could be in a separate check. The timing of the payout depends on state wage and hour laws.
