Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I have an interview next week

I’ve never prayed so hard for something to go well. I’ve been trying to find something else for almost ten months. I can’t remember the job market ever being this bad. It’s not like I even hate my job that much, but the constant lack of job security is exhausting. I’m too old to be stressing about this nonstop.

That article was a bunch of word salad. It's a fact that it's harder to lay off in European countries, but I find nothing in the article that makes it a crucial read for US workers. We already know that reductions in force are ongoing, so no great news there.

It's incredibly tough out there, and your experience resonates with so many others facing similar uncertainties. The job market, especially in tech, has seen better days, and the fear of job instability can feel overwhelming. I came across an insightful article that delves into the mass layoffs within the US tech industry, focusing particularly on how it's impacting Verizon employees. It offers not only an understanding of the current landscape but also discusses coping strategies and what might lie ahead. This could be a crucial read for anyone in a similar situation. Here’s the article for those who want to understand more about what’s happening and how it might affect them.

The grass isn't greener, it's just smoked more due to the pressures of prolonged unemployment and no prospects of getting a salary that approaches the one that was left behind.

Nice propaganda posting. Trust me the grass is greener away from this company.
This is coming from someone that has been both hourly and high level management over a 27 year career. Many of you can do better. For the ones that can’t. Yes. This is the best you will do.

Take it from someone that deeply regrets leaving. Stay!!! The grass isn’t greener. The constant insecurity and reorgs got to me as well, but in hindsight I should have just stopped caring and did the bare minimum like many others there. Losing seniority and generous pto is not worth it.

Try the public sector. University or community college administration, state or city government, non-profits, county admin, etc. Those jobs can be more stable than the private sector, many public jobs offer a pension, no overtime, etc.
Also, try temp agencies or recruiters, they can help you get your foot in the door. Often, temp jobs can turn into full-time permanent jobs.
Best wishes to you !
