Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Goodbye Copper Network

https://www.wric.com/news/u-s-world/att-to-ditch-old-copper-phone-lines-for-most-how-will-you-be-impacted/
This is posted for those of you that actually work on the network that supports the customer. Not those of you that exist to create fraudulent orders or drive sales through unethical means.
Which is what this site has become, a site talking about how to make easy money sitting in front of computer, and how to continue to not show up for work because somehow you feel entitled to do that.
Either way, Merry Christmas to all of you that are miserable working (or not) at AT&T

The good news is maybe I'll finally get my VSB offer I've been putting in for the past year.

The sunset is upon us. The company set this up perfectly. From the TDM perspective they started throwing cards away in the office by the hundreds if not thousands so they could tell the FCC and PUC they could no longer support the switch. Not the mention getting rid of all their Tier 2 & 3 support that keep the switches up and running for not very qualified Nokia and India folks. This way they could show from outage reports that they could not maintain the level of service needed. Unfortunately this was the only way the could get out of the government tight grip on traditional phone service of yesteryear. So out with the old and in with the new.

Yikes. Imagine coming to this page on Christmas Day just to be a bitter je-k.

Get yourself right, sir.

You offer the wireless service whether the signal is good or not.

The company shuts down the POTS line immediately.

“Sorry if the wireless signal isn’t up to par, but we don’t install new POTS service.”

See how easy.

News to me if the state Public Service Commissions have dropped their COLR mandates on ILECS. Last I heard is that we don’t have to offer new pots or reconnect old ones but we do have to maintain what currently is in service. I understand the new FCC ruling this week is allowing T to force swap pots customers to wireless but if reliable signal isn’t available at the customer premise i would believe the ILECS would still be required to keep the pots line up.

Nice of them to just tell the FCC and government that they will do whatever they want despite still being regulated as the Carrier of last resort. California just recently voted that they can’t exit at will as because they are carrier of last resort.
