Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

This is intentional

All the recent changes seem designed to wear us down and make us throw in the towel. It’s cheaper for them if we walk out instead of paying us severance. As much as I hate Stankey, I’ve been around long enough to know this isn’t just poor management - it’s intentional. They’re saving pennies while tearing down what made this place worth working for in the first place. It’s a sad way to treat people.

Today I was talking to my previous manager who retired years ago after spending 42 years with AT&T. He now lives in a small town in central California. He told me that one of his church friends was having issue with their AT&T internet, the AT&T tech just told his friend that it's better to switch to a different internet provider. You cannot make this up. Not sure if the big bosses knows that no one at AT&T is happy, from the technicians in the field to the management employees. And if you read the social media, a lot of customers got sc--wed by the sales people as well. It's a total mess.

"Lay some more employees off. They tell their "friends and family" to cut ties and switch to T mobile. I took 12 away the first week. "

Same here. I tell everyone what a bad deal T is, how I pay T-Mobile less than my retiree discount would me at T. And of course how great the service is.

“What can we do when sick coworkers come into the office?”

Nothing. I sit in an office where the “Do not enter if you have a fever or are feeling ill” signs are still up from Covid, yet people still come in sick and spread it around.

Unless someone tells these people to stay home - not suggests it, but makes them go home, they claim “AT&T wants us here.”

What a cluster! T stock is up ONLY because the market is so overvalued that the big investors didn’t have anywhere else to put their money. It’s like telling your brother in law to hold your beer while you go…..

"Stankey wanted so bad to show the Board and the street that he can do something so he came up with this evil rto plan."

RTO isn't a John Stankey idea or plan.

  • no it ain't a Stankey idea but this implementation of it sure as h### is. No other company is forcing their workforce back full time and not ensuring that there's enough seating and parking available. Having drop-in seats for everyone is absolutely ridiculous and absolutely is a Stankey plan. Come January 6th it's Hunger Games/Thunderdome at most AT&T locations and they know it. And Stankey, the Cheap B@#$@4d would rather spend money on stock buybacks to boost the stocks before he sails away on his platinum parachute than just freaking severance the # of employees they want gone and allow the rest of us to work as if we were in a functional company.

Even Amazon delayed their 5 day RTO due to lack of infrastructure. Stankey only CEO that says 'bring it on! we WANT to not have enough infrastructure for people to work so they'll quit in misery.' what a way to run a company, Stank

And, for the love of God, can these id--ts please STOP saying how much they appreciate us, the employees, when all their actions state how they truly feel.

“ What can we do when sick coworkers come into the office?”

Exact same thing we did prior to Covid.

It is psychopath culture. Stankey wanted so bad to show the Board and the street that he can do something so he came up with this evil rto plan. However it is going to be another blow for T. There is no innovation in this company and Stankey is ki-ling it.

Of course it is intentional. In June of 2023 he stated that AT&T needed to get down to below 140K employees. He never said how far below so that number will continue to change since revenue is declining.
